Health Promotion

Our HIV-STBBIs program focuses on following issues:

• HIV-STBBIs awareness

• Stigma and barrier reduction

• Capacity building within social services and healthcare providers

Awareness:

• We have been reaching out to those who are at risk. This was done through our different outreach activities such as street fairs, in-class sessions, one on one sessions and community events.

Stigma and barrier reduction:

• We have had numerous immersion activities in different local organizations in social service, justice, policing, health ,and educational sectors. Through those immersion activities we learned how those organizations function. Also, we have studied different social parameters that contribute to HIV epidemic in our community. We are now working on data that we gathered from those activities to address contributing factors to the rise of HIV in our community.

Capacity building:

• Our team started a new approach. We've reached out to majority of agencies and service providers in our community and listened and studied their concerns and needs for providing a better service to our community members. 

• We are using feedback from our clients, events and outreach activities to make an updated training and capacity building manual that fit our community’s needs.
